Markdown to Image
Render Markdown and save it as a PNG or JPG on a light or dark background.
To convert Markdown to an image, paste it into the editor above, choose a light or dark theme and a padding size, and click Export PNG (or JPG). The tool saves exactly what the preview panel shows, so headings, tables, highlighted code, maths and Mermaid diagrams come out as they look on screen.

The width is the width of the preview, capped at 800 CSS pixels. The height grows with your content. That size is then multiplied by your screen's pixel ratio, so on a typical 2x laptop display an 800 px preview saves as a 1600 px wide image, and on a 1x monitor it saves at 800 px.
Very long documents are scaled down to stay inside the browser's 16,384 px canvas limit. For long pages, the PDF converter is a better fit.
Can I get a transparent background?
No. Both themes fill the background: white (#ffffff) on light and navy (#1a1a2e) on dark. If you need a cutout, remove the background in an image editor afterwards.
Can I export at Instagram or X (Twitter) sizes?
There are no size presets. The image is as tall as the content, not a fixed 1080 x 1080 or 1200 x 675 frame. To hit an exact size, export the PNG and crop or pad it in any image editor. Spacious padding gives you room to crop without cutting text.
PNG or JPG?
PNG for nearly everything: text and code edges stay crisp. JPG is saved at 95% quality and is smaller, but compression can leave faint blur around letters. Use it only when a site rejects PNG or you need a smaller file.
How are tables, code, front matter and other edge cases handled?

For a single pretty code snippet, Carbon or ray.so give you more styling. Pandoc has no image output, so it is not an option here. Use this page when the image needs prose, lists or tables around the code.
